World AIDS Day: Honoring the Past, Empowering the Present, Inspiring a Healthier Future

Each year on December 1, Matthew 25 joins millions across the globe in recognizing World AIDS Day—a day of remembrance, education, and renewed commitment. For our organization, this observance is deeply personal. We honor the countless lives lost to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, stand in solidarity with those currently living with HIV, and reaffirm our promise to the communities we serve across Kentucky and Indiana to continue the fight against stigma, barriers to care, and health disparities.

World AIDS Day serves as an important reminder that while progress has been made, the work is far from over. Many individuals in our region still face challenges in accessing testing, treatment, prevention tools, and supportive services. Raising awareness remains critical. When our communities understand HIV—how it is transmitted, how it is prevented, and how treatment allows individuals to live long, healthy lives—we improve health outcomes and create safer, more compassionate environments for all.

Matthew 25 World AIDS Day Resource Fair 2025

This year, Matthew 25 is honored to host a World AIDS Day Resource Fair on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 1–4 PM at the Recovery Resource Club of Henderson. This event is designed to bring essential resources directly to our community while fostering connection, education, and support. We will be offering free HIV testing and information regarding our services.

As we pause to honor those we’ve lost, we also celebrate the resilience of those living with HIV today and the progress that continues because of strong partnerships and dedicated community members like you. Together, we move closer to a future where HIV is no longer a threat to health or humanity.

Share the Spirit of the Season with Yuletide Giveback

The holidays are a time for togetherness, warmth, and sharing a meal with those we love. Each year, Matthew 25’s Yuletide Giveback helps make that possible for our patients who may otherwise go without a holiday meal.

Historically, our Yuletide program provided pre-built food boxes filled with traditional holiday staples. However, after recognizing that many of our patients have unique cultural and dietary needs, we shifted last year to offering grocery gift cards instead. This change allows each family to choose the ingredients and meals that are most meaningful—and safe—for them to enjoy.

We typically serve around 200 patients and their families through this cherished program. Due to the current economic climate of the world, we have had over 350 patients sign up for this program this year. A $55 donation covers the cost of a holiday meal for a patient to prepare and share with loved ones.

Your generosity helps spread comfort, dignity, and joy—reminding our patients that they are seen, valued, and cared for this holiday season.

CEO Honored with Ernie Scott Leadership Award

We are immensely honored and thrilled to share that our CEO, Courtney Woolfork, has been recognized by the Kentucky Rural Health Association (KRHA) with the prestigious Ernie Scott Leadership Award!

Bowling Green Clinic Spotlight

Ethnic Food Bags

We delivered our first ethnic food bag to a patient last week from our Bowling Green clinic. The excitement (for us and them) to be able to provide essential food items that are part of their culture and diet was unmatched!

Stronger Together: Community Collaboration in Action

With the holidays approaching and stress levels rising, having a strong support system is more important than ever. Recently, our Bowling Green office demonstrated just how vital community collaboration can be. When a client arrived in crisis, our team acted quickly—connecting them with our new mental health counselor and coordinating with local partners, including Lifeskills and the Bowling Green Police Department, to ensure they received the higher level of care they needed. We’re grateful for the teamwork that helps us support our clients when they need it most.
