Matthew 25’s phlebotomists & lab services play a vital role in collecting and handling samples from our patients. Because of this, it is important to know what to expect during your appointments at Matthew 25.
At your first appointment expect about 11 tubes of blood, a urine specimen, and two swabs to be collected. While 11 tubes of blood may sound like a lot, this will only be between 2 to 4 tablespoons of blood. The average body has between 1 and 1.5 gallons of blood at one time.
Routine lab results typically are available within three to five days. Results from initial appointments may take longer than five days.
It is important to be well-hydrated for all of your appointments. We recommend consuming a healthy amount of water, especially when you are nearing an appointment.
We understand that first appointments can be scary. Please don’t be afraid to ask the phlebotomist questions at any point during your visit. We are here to help you.
